UPCOMING SAILING EVENTS:

Autumn Twilight Series, Race 3 of 10

The light breeze seems to be bringing the sailors out every Wednesday evening as once again we had 13 on the start line. Unfortunately the winds were too light for some and they retired. We still managed to have 7 complete the racing with the time limit extended by 15 mins.

Medium Distance, Race 4 of 5

We have finally managed to sail and finish a Medium Distance race for the first time since July. The gentle variable breeze, cool overcast conditions made for a great way to spend the last Sunday of the month. We had 9 boats out on the water - the fleet got to sail to our newly laid Fish Hoek buoy and back.

CAPE COASTAL ROWING CLUB

Rowing 2
Rowing 3
Rowing 1
International rowing tour 9 to 19 March 2019 with Roeivereniging de Laak.

Cape Coastal Rowing Club successfully completed a nine day tour with the international rowing group from Roeivereniging de Laak, in den Haag, the Netherlands. The tour itinerary comprised local rowing, sightseeing, hiking, good food, wine, and two rowing tours to the Cape West Coast on Langebaan Lagoon, and the Kleinrivier in Stanford. Congratulations to the 10 marathon rowers, who together with four Cape Coastal rowing guides, was the first group to complete the 50km return journey in rowing sculls from False Bay Yacht club to Cape Point. This was undoubtedly the highlight of the tour for our Dutch visitors who relished the coastal scenery along the way past Windmill Beach, Steve’s Place, Miller’s Point, Partridge Point, and Smitswinkelbay.

CCRC is proud to be associated with False Bay Yacht Club, who once again hosted our guests in true hospitable SA style in a Blue Flag marina. A big thank you to Neptune’s Galley for yet another scrumptious farewell seafood dinner, enjoyed by all.
CCRC annual Regatta Saturday 6 April 2019 from 07h00 to 11h00
This annual recreational event that coincides with the Oxford Cambridge rowing event, will host young and old competitors in quads and doubles around the harbour and swing moor circuit.
Junior rowers from the developing groups of Grassy Park Rowing Club, at Alfred’s Rowing Club and Lawhill Maritime Academy at CCRC will compete on the same circuit as Masters’ teams.
Entries include masters’ ladies, men and mixed teams from Cape Coastal Rowing club and Alfred’s Rowing Club from Zeekoeivlei Yacht Club.
This event will be followed by the traditional family braai and prize giving.

ANGLING

IMG_2528
Offshore league, leg 1 was fished on Saturday and some nice yellowfin and longfin were caught in the deep.

There are lots of pictures and commentary on the Cape Boat facebook page

Pictures attached are of Derek Kaplan, on Nenya - he had open heart surgery just over a year ago and this is the first big fish he has caught since then – very happy his ticker held out. He was ecstatic.
