Dolphyn Diary #263: 18 June 2018

STAFF RE-STRUCTURING

Dear Members

As you are aware, Teresa will be leaving at end Jun 2018. The General Committee has decided to re-structure the position on a trial basis over the next few months. This is a critical time in administration where we are focused on year end, billing members in July, the audit and AGM preparation for Aug.

Yvonne Macdonald, currently working part time, has agreed to work as our full time PR & Club Membership Administrator in the front office with access control, safety at sea admin and creating a welcome environment for Members and visitors, being a large part of her responsibilities.

Linsay Oberholzer, our part time Sailing Manager, has agreed to take over Marketing, website & events co-ordination, working closely with the entertainment Committee Members. This will include building relations with current and potential sponsors for club events.

Please join me in wishing them well over this very busy period at the club. I will give them my full support and provide the necessary on-going training to ensure a smooth transition during this time. We have confidence in their abilities!

Kind regards,
Natasha Fish
General Manager

Sailing Report

Wed 13 Jun - Neptune's Winter Twilight Series Race 1 of 10
We saw 6 boats head out for a beautiful evening sail. Just as the race started the wind died and made it, what was meant to be a quick race, a little longer. Snowgoose retired and Pure Magic managed to finish just before race cut off time 19h30. Was also great to welcome a few face to racing Basil Langley on yacht Coppelia - welcome.
Line Honours
1st - Pure Magic
2nd - Jabulani

Sat 16 Jun - Youth Day RTC Race
What a great way to spend celebrating Youth Day with a few youthful sailors from our sail training programme. We had 15 students join us for the race 5 whom have just started with us and enjoyed their first time experience out on the start line - their boat Compromise decide to retire as the wind had died but they enjoy their sail.

Thank you to all our sailors for taking a student or two out and allowing them to share in the race experience. They all came off the water cold but with smiles on their faces and will be for more next term.

Well done to Meg Lawrence, sailing on Illusion, on her first win!
