FBYC YOUTH REPRESENT AT CAPE TOWN RACE WEEK 2018

Youth at CTRW
This year’s Cape Town Race Week, at RCYC, will provide an opportunity for 2 sailors from the FBYC youth sailing program to put their skills to use in a racing environment. This is a good opportunity for the two to experience large ORC races as well as improve their skills on the boat.

Lukhanyo Tom and Neo Kgaukgelo Thobela will both be racing on board a J/27 called Pure Magic in Class B. These two students have been attending training at FBYC every Friday and Saturday along with other students, many from the Lawhill College. These 2 students are both going into their matric year at Lawhill College.

The racing will take place from Saturday the 15th through to Monday the 17th. The race can be followed either on the water in table bay or on the RCYC Facebook page.

This opportunity was only made possible due to sponsorship from FBYC

SUSIE GOODALL YACHT DISMASTED

"The youngest competitor in the race and the only woman, 29-year-old Goodall was briefly knocked unconscious when mountainous seas upended her yacht DHL Starlight early Thursday, tearing off its mast and trashing much of her equipment.

Goodall had managed to get her engine running but it failed after just 20 minutes, complicating rescue efforts as Chilean authorities diverted the Tian Fu to the area."
