ENTERTAINMENT

RULES REGARDING ICE FLAKER

Pre-paid voucher booklets to be purchased – cost has been increased to R700 (R35 per bin) from 23 Dec 2019. Available from the front office downstairs, GM or Accounts office upstairs. Office hours between 08h00 & 17h00 or Bar Staff after hours.

No ice will be available without a voucher. No cash will be accepted by the guards.

Complete the register at the guard house at front gate, hand over your vouchers and get the key for the container. Supply your own bins for the ice. Plastic spades provided must be hung or placed inside the container and not buried under the ice. No metal spades are to be used in the container to avoid damage to the container floor. Please ensure the bins you use are clean to avoid contaminating the rest of the ice. There is a bin owned by FBYC inside the container. This is NOT to be removed from the container. A maximum of six (6) bins of ice per boat per day.

Once you have loaded your bins, switch off internal light, close and lock container door. The key is to be returned to the security guard.
The operation of the ice plant will fall under Spilly’s control. Members are requested to refrain from doing their own thing.

The control of ice will be monitored by means of the Register and a CCTV camera focused on the container.
From a social point of view the club had a vibrant December which was enjoyed by members, their guests and visiting cruisers. It started with the Grinch Who Stole Christmas Kiddies Party, where the Grinch almost got away with stealing Santa's bag of presents. Fortunately Santa's little Elf helpers managed to catch the Grinch on the marina and Santa's presents were returned. Thank you to Santa,The Grinch, Santa's Little Elf Helpers and the NSRI who brought so much joy to the children while parents had many giggles too.

We welcomed the visiting cruisers with a taste of Potjie cuisine and music on the lawn by Alan and Shelley. The weather lent itself to a perfect day and happy vibes, while members and cruisers tucked into the delicious potjie pots bursting with flavours. Thank you to to all members who stepped forward to make a pot. The cruisers were impressed by the warm welcome and hospitality of FBYC.

Although there were mixed feelings about False Bay's Got Talent Karaoke Evening with Kevin Goble, it turned out to be so much fun. It only took one or two members to throw their names away, and then others followed. Well done to all who put themselves out there and made the evening a great success. For those members who were not able to attend, watch the space for Karaoke in 2020!

One of the Friday Mini Draws went larger than usual. The lucky winner of R 2630 was won by visiting cruiser from S/V Neptune's Highway.

The New Year's Eve party brought many people to the Crow's Nest to welcome 2020. DJ Beaumont made his magic and got the party rocking. Large amounts of alcohol was consumed while many people shook the dance floor. As FBYC traditionally does, we welcomed in 2020 with Liam Casey on the bagpipes, thanks Liam.

Many thanks to all members for their continued support over this period. I look forward to the year ahead and keep watching this space for entertainment updates.

CCRC’s year was off to a kick start on Tweede Nuwe Jaar with captain Estelle’s birthday breakfast after our club row….bubbly and cake to see in the new year!

Sunday we celebrated another epic first for CCRC to Muizenberg, via Glencairn, Fishhoek, Kalk Bay, and St James.

What a 22.4 km journey in superb conditions with 18 x seats in two quads, three doubles, and two x singles. True to form, we enjoyed the traditional coffee and patisserie stop at Kalk Bay Harbour.

Welcome to our visitors on board, Tessa and family from Canada, and local friend Cerigan. Good to see you back on the water John B!

Thanks to FBYC, we now look forward to a busy schedule of more development rowing, foreign club tours, new members, and raising funds to grow our fleet.

Wishing all members and families a fortuitous 2020!
