Upcoming Club and Sailing Events are on the website and a full Sailing Calendar can be found at http://www.fbyc.co.za/events/

FBYC SAILING

Sailing results:

Wednesday 08/11/2017: Spring Twilight Series – Race 10/10 and Prizegiving.
The race was cancelled due to strong winds but we had a talk on racing
rules by Dave Hudson. This talk was very well attended and I am sure all learnt a lot and left knowing their rules a little better. We will definitely be doing more of these in the future.

Saturday 11/11/2017: Special Round the Cans
Due to the postponement of the Bay to Bay race we held a Special RTC Race. The start was a little confusing as the sailors had to go the other way to what they would normally go. 9 boats entered and  the wind picked up suddenly to a little stronger than what was forecast. Only 5 boats finished. 1st Avatar, 2nd Bonnie Lass and 3rd Tradewind. Well done to all.

Please take 2 minute showers

WATER SAVING CONTINUES:

Please note that the outside shower at the stairs has been switched off, as the tap has been found to be running on occasion. It has also been noted that members’ guests are using the shower facilities and children are showering between swimming. This is not acceptable with the current water crisis and we plead with members to ensure that water saving continues.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
SOP for Hiring of Temporary Contractors:

Dear Members,

In light of the recent serious increase in theft at the club and in compliance with health and safety regulations , all Contractors working on the hard standing and the marinas will be required to wear reflective vests at all times.

All Contractors who are not registered with the club, will have to report to Reception and pay a daily upfront Temporary Contractor’s Fee of R20 per person, per day. No work will commence if this fee is not paid in advance. They are to wear the issued Club Temporary Contractor vest.

Members please note that the club must be informed by email, of all ad-hoc Contractors who are requested by owners to work on their boats. Please include the respective dates when they are required to gain access to the club. Kindly inform your ad-hoc Contractors of this Temporary Contractors fee.

In the instance where an outside Contractor is going to be on site for less than 2 hours to work on your vessel, you may sign that person in. The stipulation is that you have to be present at all times as it will be your responsibility. If we are not notified in advance, the Contractor may be turned away.

We have placed a notice in the Visiting Cruiser’s booklet stating that they are not allowed to bring off-street labour in to work on their boats.

These rules have been put into place to safeguard all Members and Temporary Members, staff and the Club.

Kindly contact Teresa: info@fbyc.co.za if you need further information.
