False Bay Crossing

The club achieved a long-term goal this summer by completing the 40km False Bay crossing between Simonstown and Gordon’s Bay – mostly in relay crews although a couple of Duracell bunnies rowed through for the full 4.5 hours. Well done Geordie and Kobus, and many thanks to Cath and Paul for providing the most luxurious of support vessels, Get My Drift.

Conditions were perfect, with a small swell, no wind for the first half and a light following wind for the second. And dolphins, plenty thereof! And a couple of whales. Not to mention the ubiquitous seals, penguins and sundry birdlife for which our beautiful bay is famous. This one is going to be nigh on impossible to beat!
