ENTERTAINMENT

Fortunately The Grinch did not get away with stealing Santa's presents and was caught by the Elves. Thank you Santa, The Grinch and the Elves for giving the children such a special day. All the children had a wonderful time slip n sliding, bouncing on the jumping castle, having their faces painted, watching The Grinch steal the presents, and trying enthusiastically to break The Grinch pinata. The day was not only enjoyed by the children but also by parents and grandparents.

PADDLING/ ROWING

ca5a66d4-6872-459d-9bf8-b2ae32dec228
What better venue for CCRC to gather for our annual family braai on Saturday afternoon. Once again, the perfect opportunity to welcome our newest and incoming rowers to the fold. What a venue and home base for our club. As the years roll over, we’ve been lucky to watch little ones and teenagers grow up. Some who’ve become accomplished rowers, others who just love being water babies, on paddle boards, fishing boats, SUPs, surf boards, and kayaks. All while their parents have fun on the water, and socialising at the most beautiful spot we could wish for. Thank you FBYC!

SAILING

Compass Rose Poster - final
Due to the rather extreme wind being thrown at us of late there hasn't been much racing to report on, but the outlook for this weekends Compass Rose is looking rather peachy as some would say??? not too bad at all. With the popular vote going for a Friday start it would appear that this might be the wiser option, at the time of writing anyway! The current Friday forecast during the period of sailing looks like a gentle Southerly moderating slightly during the early hours of Saturday, all in all should produce some nice sailing conditions with clear skies and bright moonlight. A Saturday start would be a little more exciting but quite hardcore for a fun/cruising type event and you would probably end up pretty well soaked and miserable in the end? It's going to rain down.

Also at the time of writing there are only 4 confirmed entries , two each from GBYC and FBYC, we do need more?

The courses to be sailed: Each course includes rounding marks at 4 corners of False Bay. IE. Castor Buoy in Simon's Bay, A GBYC Laid Mark off Gordon's Bay, a virtual mark off Rooi Els and a virtual mark off Buffels Bay. The race will start at 18h00 GPS Time on Friday 13th December 2019. The start lines will be monitored from the shore but there will not be any radio countdown. It will be up to the competitors to manage their starts fairly. Apart from the Start and Finish stipulations the other marks of the course can be rounded in any order or direction as decided upon by the competing boat.

From the FBYC side of the bay the Start line will be between Castor and Phoenix Buoys with boats starting on an easterly heading......the FBYC Finish time will be the time of rounding the Castor Buoy to Port when returning to Simon's Town after having rounded the other marks of the course.
From the GBYC side the Start line will be between the GBYC Laid Mark and the GBYC Clubhouse flagpole with the boats crossing the line on a southerly heading. The GBYC Finish time will be the time of rounding the GBYC Laid Marks to Starboard when returning to Gordon's Bay after having rounded the other marks of the course.

All rounding positions and the times are to be recorded preferably by a 'screen shot picture' of the GPS device screen that shows the marks GPS co-ordinates and a time stamp. These screenshots can be sent to the race office via WhatsApp Compass Rose group or email sailing@fbyc.co.za

There is a cut off time of 18h00 on Saturday 14th December 2019.
Any boat that retires from the race is to notify the race office on WhatsApp Compass Rose group giving the reason and an ETA at their home port if possible.
