CLUB REMINDERS & NOTICES
The General Committee will no longer be accepting any new trailer boat applications for membership as we have reached a saturation point.
Unfortunately we cannot accommodate more members with vehicles and trailers as there is a parking issue.
We do welcome those persons for the normal membership process if they so choose, without a trailerable boat.
This is effective 01 February 2020
Members please note that showers will be closed over weekends between 10h00 and 15h00 due to kids wasting water.
As you are aware, water is a precious resource and we just cannot tolerate this kind of behaviour. Please try to assist us in any way you can.
We have received numerous complaints of vessels speeding through the anchorage.
This is a dangerous practice as people working on their boats could get injured by the wake caused by the speeding vessel.
Please note that the entire anchorage is a no wake zone, and that offenders will be subject to disciplinary action being taken against them.
Lockers have been placed in the cloak rooms for members’ short term daily usage. Please use these lockers with your own lock and ensure lock is removed by the end of the day.

NAVIGATION & WEATHER WARNINGS
Strong winds are forecast from Wednesday afternoon (29 Jan) - please ensure your boats are secure.
NO navigation warnings were received this morning, but please check the Safety at Sea notice board, next to the bathrooms - Red Light will be on if there are further Navigation and Weather Warnings for the day.

NEWS FROM MEMBER DAVE STANIFORTH
Once again we will be escaping the UK winter for sun, sea and sailing in the Cape, on our Drascombe Longboat Pellicano.
We arrive at the end of the month and look forward to spending time catching up with old friends and new friends at FBYC, and enjoying the food at Neptune's Galley.
The plan is to continue exploring the western coastline of False Bay, using the shallow draft of the Longboat to visit those coves and beaches not accessible by keelboat. In my luggage will be a new "high-peak" main to improve light weather performance - just hope the South Easter gives me a chance!
FBYC members are most welcome to join us and experience a different type of cruising. You can contact me on email: davestani58@yahoo.co.uk

ANGLING
Inshore league talk at CBSC went well on the weekend and was well attended. All of us picked up some tips on fishing for Yellowtail and the etiquette thereof.
It was a wonderful day on the water on Saturday after that awful wind. Many boats were out. Some small mostly undersized cob came out at Stranfonteing pavilion and quite a few elf. Some chokka was caught off the quarry. Unfortunately not much was caught, water at the point was very cold and the cold water extended far out towards the canyon. No tunny reported caught that I am aware of.
This coming weekend is looking good weather for South League to be fished out of Struisbaai. Welcome any FBYC boats and to join us.
Yellowtail have been plentiful there recently and its always nice to catch a decent red stump, they are awesome eating.

PADDLING/ ROWING
Back to the pleasures of coaching our enthusiastic Grade 11 and 12 Law Hill Maritime (LMI) students in civilised conditions for rowing, swimming, and safety skills training on Saturday.
Meantime, our regular West Coast visitor Peter O'Dell of Port Owen Yacht Club kindly hosted a club member in his double along the Bergriver to Bokkomlaan in Velddrif. What a bird's eye view of this untamed stretch of water to show our German visitors in March. Thank you Peter!
More news on competitive fronts. CCRC's Coachmaster Derrick Read attended last week's FISA 2022 World Rowing Championships meeting in Gauteng. Added interest was expressed in SA Masters rowers for the 2023 World Coastal Rowing championships. FISA delegates on the Olympic body are pushing Beach and Coastal for 2022 Youth Olympics, getting S A Schools familiar with Beach Rowing.
Although in its infancy compared to global establishments, we're pleased that the CCRC model of touring rowing, growth, socialising, and enjoyment drew much attention from coastal rowing enthusiasts. Thank you Derrick!
