Discover Scuba

This year’s dive festival will once again have a PADI DSD (discover scuba diving) program to run alongside the regular festival dives. With the help of local PADI Instructors and dive schools we aim to get 100 DSDs done over the 2 days of the festival and thereby introduce 100 new scuba divers to Cape Town diving. The cost of a festival DSD is only R200 (it’s normally around R1 000) or R100 for scholars or it’s free to FBYC members. All the equipment you need is included.

We will start running DSD groups at 9am on the Sat & Sun of the festival with small groups and their instructor getting kitted-up and heading out every few minutes.

To book a DSD spot please contact our DSD co-ordinators Sarah and Steve at Dive Action info@diveaction.co.za or phone (021) 511 0800 or phone or WhatsApp 082 881 1660.

Sailing Report

Wed 18 Apr - Autumn Twilight Series Race 7 of 10. Despite the rain and strong winds that came through on Wednesday morning. The weather gods made a near perfect evening, the rain stopped as the fleet headed to the start line and the winds dropped as the fleet headed to their second mark (which was conveniently the Emergency Buoy which allowed for a shortened course)

1st - Jabulani
2nd - Pure Magic
3rd - Reaction

Sat 21 Apr - RTC Series 2 Race 4 of 4
Blue skies, sunshine, wind of about 10-12 knots there was no better way to spend the afternoon than out on the water.

1st - Jabulani
2nd - Bonnie Lass
3rd - Hamba

Overall RTC Series 2 results
1st - Bonnie Lass
2nd - Pure Magic
3rd - DHL Blue Tango 2

Friday and Saturday were both light wind days. Which suited the students after last week Saturday's strong wind sailing. The students managed to work on sailing up wind and rounding marks on Friday afternoon. Saturday they went out to practice hosting and dropping the mainsail and helming confidence, they then went out into the bay to find some wind and hoisted the spinnaker up.

There will be no Youth Sail Training Friday 27 April and Saturday 28 April.
