The world is now Las Vegas. Everybody is losing money, it's acceptable to drink at all hours, and no one has any idea what day it is.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL MEMBERS
Message from Geoff Genricks – Intasure:
Following the recent SAMSA Marine notice no,27 of 2020, I can confirm that I have confirmation in writing that any boats insured by Intasure with infinity will not be prejudiced in any way for matters out of their control until the appropriate level of Covid 19 allows for COF’s to be renewed.
All cover will remain valid during this time.

RECREATIONAL BOATS DURING LEVEL 3
Marine Notice 13 of 2020 recognised that the safety inspection of small recreational vessels placed both boat owners and safety officers at increased risk. It therefore allowed owners to apply for a two-month extension for their CoF’s. To minimise unnecessary bureaucracy, SA Sailing obtained a blanket agreement from SAMSA that the validity date of all SA Sailing CoF’s would automatically be deemed until further notice to be extended by two months. That was communicated to all boatowners by email on 20 March 2020.
Marine Notice 13 of 2020 has been cancelled. Marine Notice 27 of 2020 states that recreational boating and the conduct of safety inspections on recreational vessels for the purposes of obtaining a CoF will not be allowed until Level 2.
Some insurance companies require the vessel to have a CoF. Accordingly, owners might be concerned that the insurance policy for their vessel moored in a marina may not be valid if the CoF has expired. We have contacted two insurance companies. Both stated that they would “of course” not prejudice owners who have vessels moored in a marina because they were legally unable to renew their CoF. SA Sailing cannot guarantee that all insurance companies will take this approach and suggests that owners who are concerned should contact their insurance companies to seek appropriate assurances.
Our computer system sends out automatic warnings when your CoF expires. We have decided to allow these warnings to continue – even although you cannot get a CoF safety inspection done under level 3 – just to ensure that boat owners are aware that their CoF has expired.
Please stay safe during these difficult times.
