ANGLING
Welcome and thanks Andrew Whitehead and Byron Ashington for volunteering to assist me and participate in an FBYC Angling subcommittee.
The Ice machine has been moved to its new position and is back in working order.
I have received many requests for a webcam that will show us a view of the bay. Today was typical, while it was white capping at millers, Simons Bay was fine for chokka fishing.
We intend installing a web camera on the flagpole on rumbles jetty and consequently calling for donations towards the data link, camera and router.
Ideally we need a hi site, maybe someone has a spot?.
We have also been donated a new scale by our Commodore, Rob Newman. Thanks.
I have rigged up a block and tackle arrangement for lifting large tuna.
We need a lockable box that can be installed near security so that anglers can sign for the scale when they have a PB they would like to weigh and for future competitions.
We can't leave it up unfortunately, children are likely to play with it and could get hurt. Anybody have a suitable lockable box, please make contact.

ROWING/PADDLING
It was with pleasure that we welcomed some of our Lawhill rowing students back at FBYC home base on Saturday.
Their outing was a first after many months of lockdown, when strict Covid protocols were observed by all. The students and coaches thoroughly enjoyed this somewhat overdue outing, around Arc Rock in moderate South Easterly conditions.
We are delighted to learn that two of our students who are planning to study engineering at the University of Cape Town next year, also hope to continue their rowing at university.
While FBYC sponsors the sailing and rowing programs, it also provides the Lawhill Maritime Students access and assistance with the provision of storage for the dedicated Lawhill Rowing boats and equipment.
Volunteers from the Cape Coastal Rowing Club provides the Rowing coaching and mentoring.
Thank you to all parties whose considerable collaboration continues to drive the success of the Development Rowing Programme. Most of all to FBYC for offering a diverse and inclusive learning environment, and most welcoming home base. Cape Coastal Rowing Club

The Row2rio2020 project took a lot of effort, time, planning and execution.
It is important never to under estimate what it takes to get a project like this of the ground. There is an impact on family and social life, and whatever you think the project budget might be…. Double that amount.
Which makes a project like this near impossible without sponsors, unless you managed to win the lottery.
Thank you to juwi Renewable Energies, who came to the party as the primary sponsor.
Without juwi I would not be able to get to the starting line.
But, the supporting sponsors have all played critical roles as well.
Aerontec, Bulwark, Saertex and NovaMarine as product sponsors.
Thanks to the Simon’s Town Marina Company for giving me mooring space!
