WPDSAA CALENDAR 2022
(Click on the calendar to download)
NOTE FROM DANIEL HUGHES: "As a result of there being so many tournaments we were not able to get all the events on the calendar. The anglers that are or want to participate in other tournaments will need to follow up on the SADSAA tournament calendar and adjust accordingly! I am aware that there are still a few tournaments whose dates might be changed or are outstanding so there will still be changes but the anglers can do these changes as and when we are informed about them".

Well, after a short break for the festive season, our new calendar kicked in with the Twilight Summer Series 1 Race 5, on Wednesday 5th January. Unfortunately, this was blown out and with the wind forecast for Saturday's New Helm Race not looking good at all, it seemed as if the South Easter was back with vengeance.
We did manage to start the New Helm Race but only three boats entered (Scottische, Stella and Free Spirit).
The weather certainly gave the sailors the runabout, with the wind giving them everything from zero to twenty-six to zero and then back to twenty-six knots again, along with a fairly big swell to contend with.
All three boats retired in the end.

CRUISING
Some boats took advantage of the beautiful weather on Saturday and had a fun day's raft-up off Long beach. Once again thank you to Simon for the photos.

Your Sailing committee has been working overtime to submit the new ORC Certificate information to ORC South Africa and had all paperwork submitted well in time (December 2021). Unfortunately, they don’t seem to be as efficient. Big thanks to Billy.
Please note that if we have not received the new ORC Handicap Certificates for 2022 in time, the results for this weekend and the two new series will be held back to calculate with the new ORC certificate ratings. We are hoping that ORC South Africa will come through for us.
