SOUTHERN POINT MARINE Autumn Twilight Series 1 Race 4 was cancelled.

Medium Distance Series Race 3 was cancelled.
SOUTHERN POINT MARINE Autumn Twilight Series 1 Race 5 saw a very tricky start with a visiting yacht refusing to move off the start/finish mark. In the end, we shortened the course, which saw Jabulani, Geoff Olive 1st, FireFly, Andre Bass 2nd, and Makers Mark, Ant Montague-Fryer 3rd.
Esprit de Corps, A fun days sailing was had by all that came, both sailors and spectators. A strong wind proved to be very challenging, especially with the downwind starts. There were many capsizes and tight racing, especially between Makers Mark and Stella crews, even though they were on the same team. It was great to see the kids from Izivunguvungu joining in and helping us out. I’m proud to announce that Team FBYC won the event and Jeremy Bagshaw received the beautiful trophy on FBYS’s behalf. A big thank you to Defence Force Yacht Club and to Lawhill/SAMTRA for the use of their rescue boat.

CAPE COASTAL ROWING CLUB
Crefelder Rowing Club - International Tour
We enjoyed a delightful four days last week when our German friends from Crefelder Rowing Club finally reached the fairest Cape!
Since CVID played havoc with their tour plans, perfectly in place for 12 rowers to arrive in March 2020, we were pleased to welcome nine senior members (minus 3 who tested positive for CVID en route...). All another two years older than originally planned!
Thank you to our FBYC home base, Pier 23, commodore, captains, and club members whose immense support went down a dream. As usual Mariner Guesthouse owners, Liesel and Pieter did a sterling job of hosting our discerning guests in true SA style. We had so much fun exchanging club flags and ties while forging new friendships over superb food and fruits of the grape.

Thankfully Pieter's superb wine supplies lasted just long enough to send them off to Camps Bay with a few more bottles in tow ...
A massive thank you to our tour committee Derrick (and Alyson) Pieter, and Anna-Marie who together with the committee, rowers and spouses gave our visitors an unforgettable experience.

The support boat for non-rowers to Boulders and Windmill was a real hit! Thank you Tim and Geoffrey Bond, and John Watermeyer for providing great land and sea outings.
Rowing and training continues as usual, with a focus on longer distances for our Freedom Paddle Team 2022.
