ROWING

CCRC Night row under the full moon

Our favourite time of the year, with respite from howling gales, was reconfirmed over the past weeks.

Fantastic lunar conditions yesterday, and last night in particular, brought deep gratitude for so many ocean and outdoor privileges we enjoy. All agreed that 'Simonstown is such a gem for all its offerings to our visitors and us'.

And so it was that CCRC pulled together at short notice to embrace a stunning full moon row. With an illuminated fleet of 23 seats in three quads, two doubles, and three single sculls, we relished our surroundings' natural beauty and tranquility.

A great pleasure then to welcome our friend Daggie from Elgin Rowing Club and her two Australian rowing visitors from Melbourne to this occasion.

What a first-ever ocean row for them, perfected beyond expectation with three Humpback Whales, a raft of African Penguins, and our Cape Fur Seals at Arc Rock who, not so quietly, welcomed us on their water.

What a club, the most hospitable home base, pub and town! Thank you to everybody who makes this possible all of the time.
