Gifting of Christmas Presents
|
|
|
|
Thank you to all members who contributed a Christmas gift for underprivileged children. The box was gifted to the children at The Jones Safe House, near Kommetjie.
|
The Jones Safe House is a registered non-profit organization that takes on abused, abandoned, and neglected children and abused/addicted mothers.
|
|
The founders, Donovan and Bernadette Jones, together with their family provide a stable, loving home where healing can begin.
|
|
They were very grateful for the gifts for the children.
|
|

Golden Globe
Jeremy Bagshaw on his yacht Olleana seems to have slowed down. He is making slow progress and is approaching the waypoint off Australia. He is currently in 5th place with only 13,602 Nautical Miles to go.
|
The other South African entrant, Kirsten Neuschafer, is currently in 2nd place with only 11,150 Nautical Miles to go.
|

COF'S
Philip Lamb and Paul Dennett recently passed the SAMSA Surveyors course and are now qualified and available to survey boats. They join Jeremy Walter and Andrew Mackenzie.

Cape to St Helena
Three boats from FBYC entered this year’s race. Compromise (Rob Newman), Serendipity (Geoff Genricks), and Suidoos 2 (Mark Wannenburg).
|
|
Compromise came in 5th over the line and is provisionally 1st in the multihull section.
|
|
Serendipity, came in 8th over the line, and is provisionally 5th in ORC.
|
|
Suidoos 2, suffered a setback, and with an injured crew member, still has to finish.
|
|
|

The CCRC had a fantastic regatta on 12 November 2022 with schools, universities and clubs around Cape Town and surrounds participating.
|
|
|
The regatta athletes raced in quads and beach sprints doubles throughout the morning, starting at 9 am and having our last race at noon. A beautiful day spent out in the sun and closing off a banger of a year.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Then on 30 November our CCRC Head Coach Derrick Read, Annemari Smith and Thato Mabelane, CCRC Vice Captain, presented rowing colours to our Learn to Row Program at Lawhill Maritime School, closing off their year at the Lawhill Maritime Centre Matric Valedictory.
|
|
|
We are super excited about the new rowing season coming up in January.

Liquor licence
|
The club has an on-consumption liquor licence therefore members and their guests may not bring their own liquor onto the club premises, as this is regarded as an offence in terms of the Liquor Act. We have reviewed the corkage fee facility and it will not be available in the Crow’s Nest Bar upstairs any longer.
|
The facility will still be available when you are ordering from the restaurant downstairs. Arrangements to pay corkage can be set up with Carl when you want to bring your own wines for a function, provided that the wine is not already on the wine list.
|
|
Parking on the hard during the week and on weekends
Members and on-site Contractors are to please note the following:
|
|
Parking on the hard will not be allowed during the week or over weekends unless prior
|
permission has been granted by Kim (STMC).
|
Off-loading on the hard must be done swiftly and with consideration to boat movements during the week.
|
|
A designated loading bay is available to members for off-loading next to the clubhouse – maximum 30 minutes.
|
|
Please assist if possible
We are looking for used life jackets/wetsuits in good condition to be donated to development kids.
