UPCOMING EVENTS

RECENT EVENTS

A jolly evening was held in the Crow's Nest on Friday 17 March to celebrate St Patrick's Day. The day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, and, by extension, celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general. The Claddagh Irish Dancers gave us insight into traditional Irish dances, which were spectacular. Thank you to all members who supported the evening.

SAILING NEWS

Gordon’s Bay Raid

Eighteen boats sailed over to Gordon’s Bay this past weekend. We were welcomed by GBYC members, directing our fleet to their respective moorings, and catching our lines. The Mexican Party that followed was awesome. There’s a saying “what happens in Gordon’s Bay, stays in Gordon’s Bay”, well that’s all I have to say.

Golden Globe

Jeremy Bagshaw on his yacht Olleana has rounded Cape Horn and is still making good progress. He remains in 2nd place in the Chichester Class, with only 6,373 Nautical Miles to go. The other South African entrant, Kirsten Neuschafer, is still in 1st place overall with only 3,451 Nautical Miles to go.

If you want to follow the Race, you can download the YB Races app, and search for the Golden Globe Race 2022.
