Important notice to Members

Renewal of Subscriptions:
Member subscriptions invoices for the period July 2021 to June 2022 have been sent to members on 01 July 2021. If you have not received your invoice, please let us know urgently. accounts@fbyc.co.za / admin@fbyc.co.za

These invoices are due for payment by 1st August 2021, as stated in the Club Constitution. A small discount will be granted to all members paying by EFT, the deadline is 31st July. Members may, by arrangement with the club, request for payment terms to pay by 30th September. Please contact Natasha manager@fbyc.co.za

Early Bird Discount:
Please remember to deduct the early bird discount amount stated on your invoice if you are going to pay by EFT only.
The deadline for this discount is 31 July 2021. Note that your payment has to reflect in our bank account on 31 July or you will not qualify for this discount.

Resignations:
Kindly note that in terms of the Club's Constitution, should you not wish to renew your membership, you were obliged to advise the Club (Yvonne admin@fbyc.co.za) before the end of June. We will accept resignations received up to 30 July, but any received after then will incur pro-rata subscription fees up to the date of resignation.

Temporary Contractors Access Control

Members may arrange for temporary contractors to work on their vessels provided that the member informs the club admin office in advance via email, admin@fbyc.co.za, or by calling 021 786 1703.

Temporary Contractors may not be on the premises unless they have been contracted by a member to do the work. They may only work during club office hours; 08h00 to 17h00.
This person has to be signed in by the member at the admin office and may remain with the member for the period without paying a temp contractors fee.
Should the person arrive without the member, it has to be queried by our Customer Service Officer at the point of entry and the person has to be escorted to our admin staff downstairs for verification.

Thereafter the contractor's register must be signed and a temporary contractors fee of R20 must be charged, per person, per day.

During Covid lockdown, we are not implementing the use of a safety contractor's vest for health protocol reasons.

Off-site Contractors

Please note that offsite contractors who have been signed up for a year/duration of the project, and paid for by members in advance, would have been issued with off-site contractor access cards and do not need to follow the process above.

Weight Calculation & Ad Hoc Inspection

Please take note of the SAMSA notice with respect to the increase in crew weight calculation. Weight calculation is now based on an average of 82.5kg per person.

Read Marine Notice No. 3 >

Please note that SAMSA will be doing random spot checks on small craft fitness, safety equipment and COF at all launching sites. All pertinent paperwork must be on board including VHF radio license receipts.

SAILING

IMG_20210716_110647
It may seem like things have been quiet on the sailing front, but I can promise that lots has been happening in the background!

Most exciting from this last week has been the acquisition of some racing marks on loan from the SA Navy.

Many, many thanks to our harbour master – Captain Francois Roux – for making this possible and to our very own Steve Casey for making this happen!

Upcoming Sailing & Important Announcements

And … (saving the best news for last!) … we’re going racing again!

Our understanding being that the Government Gazette allows for non-contact sport. Please note though that Covid protocol must be adhered to at all times. No one is allowed to be in the club and no one may gather anywhere (aside from at Pier 23, if they are open).
All of the racing that we do at this time will not form part of any series. Each race will be a stand-alone event so that no one feels compelled to participate.

Looking forward to seeing you on the water this coming Wednesday (21 July) for a twilight race, starting at 17:45, and a Medium Distance Race on Sunday (25 July), starting at 11:30.
