A message from our Rear Commodore - Gareth Decker
This past weekend marked a significant milestone as we launched the inaugural WP Inshore League Fishing event. Among our distinguished participants were our esteemed angling commodore and his wife, Jacqui, who added to the excitement of the occasion.
Reflecting on the success of our maiden venture, we're thrilled to announce an upcoming workshop scheduled for next week. This interactive session aims to demystify the art of light tackle league fishing, providing valuable insights and fostering an environment of camaraderie among our members. We encourage everyone to join in and discover the thrill of landing big fish on light lines, transcending the conventional winching experience.
During our expedition, we experienced the thrill of the catch, successfully landing an impressive 10 yellowtail on 6kg lines. The average weight of 6.5kg per fish added an unexpected element of challenge, leading to some impromptu "tuna dancing" aboard as we skillfully maneuvered to keep our lines separate.
If you're eager to be part of an extraordinary fishing community and keen on mastering the art of reeling in sizable catches with finesse, this workshop is tailor-made for you. Stay tuned for more details on this upcoming event and get ready to embark on a journey of fishing excellence.

Dear FBYC Members
We're thrilled to share the wonderful experience of one of our esteemed FBYC members who recently enjoyed a memorable day out on the waters with his loved ones.
A Remarkable Day Aboard Esta Vida - A FBYC Family Affair! By Chris Coetzee.
Envision a flawless day blessed with ideal weather, the presence of the boat Esta Vida, and the delightful camaraderie of fellow FBYC family members. Laughter, excitement, and the sheer joy of being surrounded by the expansive ocean set the tone for the day.
The adventure kicked off with the exhilaration of catching fish, creating moments of delight for both the young and old. What added a special touch to this day was the commitment to catch and release. Embracing the principles of sustainability and conservation. Each catch became an opportunity to appreciate marine life, learn about various species, and release them back into their natural habitat.
The younger participants on board had the chance to glean valuable lessons about the sea, fishing techniques, and the importance of responsible angling. Notably, the thrill of reeling in some impressive chokka elevated the day to a whole new level.
As the sun began its descent, the day concluded with a heartwarming braai. The aroma of the grill, the sizzle of the cooking, and the shared stories made it a truly special family affair.
These moments, filled with love, learning, and laughter, are the kind that etch themselves into our memories for a lifetime. It's experiences like these that make our FBYC community unique and cherished. We're more than just a yacht club; we're a family that revels in each other's joys and creates enduring memories together. Here's to many more days of camaraderie, adventure, and family bonding on the beautiful waters with our FBYC community.
