Ahoy, FBYC, Club Members
We are thrilled to announce that from Thursday, 7 March, our beloved club restaurant will be reopening under our very own management. But wait, there is more! We are inviting you, our valued members, to be part of a unique opportunity. The restaurant downstairs is getting a new name, a name that embodies the spirit of the club, a name that resonates with our beloved bar; “The Crow’s Nest.” So, put your thinking caps on and let your creativity set sail. The member whose suggested name is chosen for the restaurant will receive a FBYC meal Voucher, for 4 persons and a bottle of wine. Let us create a name that will echo through the halls of FBYC, a name that will be a beacon for good times and great yet simple, tasty dishes. A name that will stand shoulder to shoulder with “The Crow’s Nest “and together they will symbolise the heart and soul of our Club. A Little Patience Goes A Long Way We are all excited about the reopening of our restaurant, but as with all good things, this too requires a bit of patience. As we transition to our own management, the restaurant and bar will be closed for a few days prior to reopening on the 7th of March. We understand that this might cause a little inconvenience, but we assure you, it is all in the pursuit of providing you with an even better dining experience at FBYC. We are working hard to make this transition as smooth as possible and we appreciate your understanding during this time. So, hold tight, FBYC Club members! The wait will be worth it. And remember, the member whose suggested name is chosen for the restaurant will receive a FBYC meal Voucher for 4 persons and a bottle of wine. Stay tuned for more updates and get ready to embark on this exciting journey with us.

Exciting News: Welcome to Our New Members from SAMTRA!
Dear False Bay Yacht Club Members,
We are thrilled to share some fantastic news with you all! This month, we welcomed 20 new members from the South African Maritime Training Academy (SAMTRA) to our community. We are genuinely excited to see these Cadets join us and embark on their journey of growth and development.
For those unfamiliar with SAMTRA, it is a remarkable non-profit maritime education and training company established in 2002 through the generous donations made by the A.P. Møller-Maersk Group of shipping companies. SAMTRA's primary goal is to provide skills enhancement training for Southern African seafarers.
Situated in the picturesque community of Simon’s Town, SAMTRA's training facility was officially opened by the State President of South Africa on 9 September 2003. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art simulators, including bridge, engine room, refrigeration, electronic navigation, and communications simulators.
SAMTRA offers a wide range of educational programs and simulation skills enhancement training courses, covering navigation and ship handling, refrigeration engineering, marine engineering, as well as professional maritime short courses across all disciplines. In addition to its educational offerings, SAMTRA provides training management services for cadet and rating training programmes.
Over the years, SAMTRA has evolved into an innovative maritime education and training solutions provider, contributing significantly to the local maritime industry. The organization's impact is evident through its dedication to skills development, job creation, and active participation in professional bodies, advisory committees, and industry work groups.
Join us in extending a warm welcome to our new members from SAMTRA. Let's embrace this opportunity to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and mutual growth within our diverse maritime community.
We look forward to witnessing the continued success and growth of our new members from SAMTRA!

ANGLING NEWS
Well done to the 3 boats that fished WP league for FBYC. The sea conditions were not great and neither were the fish, yet all 3 boats managed to weigh some fish. The participants included one lady angler as well as one junior angler.
- Gareth and Jacqui Decker on Mad Mahi
- Ash Bradley and his dad on Frenzy
- Wes Lane and junior angler Kodi Goosen on Gemma
We are hoping to grow our league teams and anyone interested in learning how to catch fish competitively, and maybe getting the chance to represent your province or even your country, this is a great way to gain those skills.
