ANGLING

ANGLING NEWS

This weekend the WP League was fished by 2 boats from FBMT.

Mad Mahi with Gareth Decker and Kodi Goosen (Jnr), and Gemma with Wes Lane and Paul Louw.

The game plan was to hit Rocky Bank and get a couple of snoek , which was successfully achieved by catching a good few snoek on jigs with our 6kg mainline. We then set out on mission impossible to find tail in the cold water.

Against good advice it was decided to try the Point and, low and behold, by 12 noon the steretjies were working nicely. A little skittish but a couple of casts with our trusty 6kg Ande mainline and it was on.
A couple of really nice 4 to 6kg class tail landed (takes a while on light line) the SE started to huff and puff quite a bit and in the choppy seas Wes ended up with a hook deep in his leg.

Once the bolt cutters were put to good use, it was decided to get out of Dodge ASAP and we made a bumpy trip back to Simon's Town.

Well done to Paul with 3 species, which equates to a triple-point score.

And of course our junior angler, Kodi, showing how he lands tail after big tail on 6kg line making it look easy.
