Things are heating up for our annual regatta. We’re hoping for a big turnout this year and have lots of extras lined up to entertain everyone.

Agulhas Race 2024
With restrictions on hosting the MBR, our racing committee has decided to run this very exciting offshore race as an alternative. There has been a lot of interest, and we are looking forward to a great event.

Moorings for racing boats 26’ or less
FBYC together with STMC have re-introduced cheaper moorings that will be available to boats that take part in Club Races. These mooring are very limited and will only be given out with certain T’s & C’s. You can come to the Sailing Office to find out more.

CCRC Tour Volunteers & Royal Sport Nautique de Bruxelles
Our two clubs were beyond delighted to have finally enjoyed what was originally planned for 2020.
Lucky for us that the Western Cape’s natural riches allowed a successful three-part tour which answered to all nine guests’ pre-requested needs. The 8-day program stretched from the airport to the West Coast wildflowers and birds at Langebaan and Paternoster, to the whales in Hermanus, and African Penguin and Cape Point at Simon’s Town, and rowing with the club from home base.
We enjoyed convenient access for our first time row with one trailer and three boats, from the Hermanus New Harbour, and generous yacht club reciprocity in both Langebaan and Hermanus. For the first time CCRC successfully gained access to launch from the Hermanus Yacht Club slipway, plus stowing our boats and trailer overnight. As always, Langebaan Yacht Club received us well during their spring regatta, for easy boat portage and rowing across the lagoon, and to Mykonos. Bird watching rowing on the Breede from Bokkom Laan and the Riviera Hotel was a hit, followed by the traditional Voorstrand sunset, seafood dinner at Paternoster.
Conveniently located group accommodation within easy walking distances in both Paternoster, Hermanus and Simon’s Town worked the dream. Loads of fun thanks to generous quantities of SA wines, traditional braais, sea food, and good old SA hospitality.
Fair weather conditions brought Bryde’s Whale and Cape Fur Seal watching on the Hermanus Bay, as well as a nature trip on the Hermanus and Stanford Lagoons across to Mosaic.
Incredible nature sightings at West Coast National Park, Columbine National Park, and Cape Point National Park, ensured contented, happily exhausted guests. Their last stop and four-night stay near homebase in Simon’s Town added the extra luxury to round off their tour on a high.
The weather played along for the much-desired Cape Point row from Buffels Bay, and back via Millers, for the traditional swim and picnic at Windmill Beach before rowing back to FBYC and the traditional Crow’s Nest finish.
Big thanks to every club supporter, tour organisers from both sides, rowing organisers and weather gods, the awesome land diens catering services, our boat maintenance team, trailer towers, packers, and assistants. Without you all, these tours would not happen!
Lastly, a big thank you to our beloved home base at False Bay Yacht Club who we represented with pride while touring. Thank you to Lesley for the yard favours, and Paul and Gary for making the farewell traditional braai evening happen despite the icy weather.
