CAPTAIN'S LOG – This Month at FBYC
I am delighted to share that the Club is projected to end the financial year with an estimated profit of approximately R600,000, with one month still remaining in the financial year. This would mark the first profitable year for the Club in approximately four to five years.
GenCom acknowledges this positive financial outcome and commended the efforts of FinCom, management, and staff whose hard work and dedication have contributed significantly to this achievement. While there is still much work to be done, this result is an encouraging sign that the Club is moving in the right direction.
I have received many compliments regarding the restaurant and the quality of the offerings available. My sincere thanks go to Chef Gary and his team for their passion, creativity, and commitment to delivering delicious, heartfelt meals for our members and guests.

As we move into the colder months, I encourage members to continue supporting the restaurant and enjoying the warm hospitality and excellent cuisine, and specials on offer.
Once again, Steak Night was exceptionally well attended. The weather was picture-perfect, the atmosphere was vibrant and social, and unfortunately we sold out. Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to another memorable evening at the Club.
We are still awaiting confirmation of our exemption from the Lotteries Board before we can resume our much-loved Greeff Joker Draw. We appreciate your patience and look forward to bringing it back as soon as approval is received.
As my term as Commodore slowly draws to a close, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the General Committee, subcommittees, staff, volunteers, and members for their unwavering support throughout the past year. Serving as Commodore has been both an honour and a privilege.
Together, we have navigated challenges, celebrated successes, and continued to strengthen the spirit and community that make False Bay Yacht Club such a special place.
I look forward to seeing the Club continue to thrive in the years ahead.

The past couple of months have been relatively quiet from a pilot gig rowing perspective, with many of the regular gig crowd tied up with Cape Coastal Rowing Club training for the April 27 Freedom Paddle in sculling boats, and the early winter weather not playing ball.

New members are always welcome, with no prior rowing experience needed. To get involved, contact Pete (FBYC rowing/kayaking rep) on 083 281 8768, Sasha (CCRC Captain) on 083 266 5882, or PC (Pieter), gig rowing captain, on 083 780 6704.
