All vessels launching, moored or proceeding to sea from the club facilities shall be in possession of a current CoF
Certificates must be lodged with the Club Reception Office, which will issue a corresponding CoF disc, stating the name or registration number of the vessel and the date of expiry of the current CoF.
This disc must be visibly displayed on the starboard side of the vessel.
General Safety and Pollution Control
No vessel shall launch from a club slipway, moor in a marina or on a swing mooring or proceed to sea unless the skipper and vessel are suitably certificated and insured.
All skippers must sign out their vessels on the form provided at the security gate and sign them back in again on return.
See you on the water!

FBYC ROWING AND KAYAKING
With the demand for kayak racks at FBYC, we are going to have to make some changes in the future, in an attempt to look after the needs of as many kayakers and surfskiers as possible.
As an aquatic sports club, our purpose is to provide a venue where people can make maximum use of the facilities and therefore enjoy the unique qualities of False Bay, whatever their pastime/sport on the water.
To this end, the club cannot supply racks exclusively for storage.
The FBYC General Committee have agreed that all kayaks and surfskiis must be used at least 8 times a year.
To have the number of times you use your craft recorded over a one year period, YOU MUST SIGN OUT/SIGN IN with Security at the Main Gate.
PLEASE NOTE: It is a requirement of the Club Safety Regulations that all kayakers/surfskiers are required to sign out at the Safety Register before going out on the water. And accordingly, sign back in to record their safe return.
This is the record that will be used to determine the frequency of use of your craft.
If your craft is not used 8 times a year from the start of our new Financial Year (1st July 2018), you will be required to remove your craft from the racks.
You will be given one month to remove your craft.
If your craft is not removed by 1st August 2019, it will be removed from the racks to create space for club members currently on the waiting list who wish to paddle regularly.
If you have unusual circumstances that could prevent you meeting the 8 times a year figure, please contact Dermot Magowan on 083 253 9811 and we will see what other options are possible.
The Regular Paddles in 2018
We will continue with the regular paddles at 9.30am every Sunday, weather permitting.
The Friday paddle at 9am, once again weather permitting, will continue.
In March 2018, as we go into the start of Autumn, we will have a ‘First Saturday of every Month’ paddle. This is the start of the season of fewer strong Summer South Easterly’s and the purpose of the outing is to discuss re-entering kayaks from deep water, correct paddle stroke, fitness level, frequency of time on the water, improving confidence levels in rough conditions and generally having a bit of a laugh!
This is the ideal paddle day for new kayakers, people wanting to get more experience and, to meet other FBYC members. This will be the 1st Saturday of every month at 10am on the water.
First dates – Saturday 3rd March, Saturday 7th April etc
The Paddlers group on “WhatsApp” This is for all False Bay paddlers. People arrange a paddle with anyone else available. Very successful . If you want to go onto that group, contact Dermot Magowan, 083 253 9811.
