SAILING CALENDAR

Wednesday evening Twilight Racing is still proving to be the most popular by far. Sixteen boats last week, including some newbies, making well over twenty different entries since January. Keep it up. Remember that racing even at the “back of the fleet” identifies the inefficiencies in your sailing, since all systems need to work easily (and quickly). Inefficiencies equal SLOW! Many an active regular club racer started out as a “tail-end Charlie”. Give it a try.

Saturday’s race for the old “Ballies” brought out six Miuras including the winner, Richard Mitchell on Jetta, who has been sadly missed for far too long. Quite a few crew were also Muira sailors too. Without too much effort we could soon see eight or more Miuras on the start-line enough to warrant the re-introduction of a separate Division 1. Remember those days? Makes you think!

Wednesday’s forecast suggests a brisk  upper teens south west to southerly wind which should result in an exhilarating sail for round 3 of the STBB Twilight Series  start 18:00. Twenty entries ?????

Weather forecasters often claim that they usually get the weather correct, but that judging the rate at which things change is often a bit more difficult. Hopefully, the current forecast for the second half of this week gets the timing right. Thursday, Friday and early Saturday look like being a bit unruly with up to 35 knots (probably more like 40+) of south easter on Friday, dropping off on Saturday for the next round of the Double Hander series. Looks like an excellent opportunity for those 6 plus Miuras and the Sadler 26s to show the  little Flammies a thing or two for a change. Be there! Start 14:30.

EASTER REGATTA:  Watch out for the next Dolphyn Diary for details.
